Our Essential Checklist For Hitting The Local Flea Market

Flea markets are some of the best places to pick up unique pieces for the home. They are busy and bustling and full of bargains, which is why we love them. Before you dash over there, here are a few things we would recommend in order to be prepared for your visit.

Do your research

Look up your nearest markets and most highly reviewed spots to shop.

Head there early

This way you can have first dibs on the best finds.

Wear comfortable shoes

You’ll be walking around a lot – that’s just good common sense.

Prepare to carry

Take a rolling cart, bag or trolley to haul your finds around with you.

Bring a tape measure and measurements of your rooms

This way you can cut out the guesstimating and be sure an item will fit.

Layer it up

Early mornings can be chilly, so be sure to take lots of layers. You can strip them off if the sun comes out.

Keep focused

Write a wish list of the items you’re hunting for. That way you won’t impulse buy or get distracted – those we can’t promise anything.

Hydrate

Bring a bottle of water with you to keep well hydrated throughout the day.

Small bills and cheques

Never take bills larger than $20. Vendors prefer to deal with cash and smaller bills are the easiest. Do remember to bring your chequebook, just in case.

Good company

There’s nothing better than spending the day with friends and hunting together for hidden treasures.
